So I had a couple of options to spend the New Year, it was a last minute decision and my impulse to say yes to things are rare. This year I can say I had my first New Year experience in Poland with a wonderful Polish family and friends who fed us soooo much food! The night was quite mellow and laid back with a few Polish couples and their kids and a few people from work… that’s my ideal way to hangout, with a few good people around the house having a good time, nothing too crazy. They were far too kind that reminded me of Southern hospitality from back home. Watching the older couple dance made me smile and realize that you are as old as you choose to be, they were so lively and happy. I aspire to have those characteristics when I get older.
As I reflect back on 2017, so much has occurred and it seems that within a blink of an eye, where I began was not where I ever thought I would be now. Funny how life seems to do that to you. That’s one of the reasons why I think plans are just guides in life that continues to alter without an ending. The future is unforeseen and unpredictable no matter how much we think we know about ourselves to predict what’s going to happen next.
If I were to take away a theme or lesson from 2017, it’s to go with the flow with what life has to throw at you and accept change with an open mind. Things change, people change, where we are is only temporary, nothing is definite unless we choose in our minds that it is so. I believe if we close our minds off to the best possibilities then the road to happiness may be limited.
Speaking of change, our bodies change in relation to our health and lifestyle. Tomorrow begins the busy day of signing up for gym memberships or dedicating ourselves to the gym because it’s New Year’s Resolution time. Good luck to everyone waiting for the machines!
