So recently I’ve been inspired to write about SUCCESS. What is success? According to Mariam-Webster it is:
1. a degree or measure of success
2. a favorable desired outcome; also, the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence
Success makes us feel good once we accomplish a goal, whether the goal is small and easily attainable or huge and may take a longer time to achieve. I think part of life must include succeeding because it gives us self confidence and makes us feel good. Yet why are some people afraid of success and stop at a certain point? Maybe past events of failing and not knowing what it feels like prevents us from wanting success. Or perhaps the expectations once we succeed presents fear of wanting success.
Think of a time when you wanted something so bad but kept failing at it. But you decide to keep trying and then one day you got what you wanted. How did it feel? It should’ve felt great! A moment of happiness should’ve came over you. The time in between of achieving what you wanted was most likely difficult, but that’s how you grow. That’s how you learn about yourself and what you’re capable of.
Success should be something you want for YOURSELF and not for anyone else. That may sound selfish but at the end of the day, ultimately YOU are in control of how you feel and what you’ve accomplished. No one else can do that for you.
So what happens when you continue to succeed and then people expect so much out of you that you’re scared that you can’t live up to those expectations anymore? Should you stop succeeding just because of what others think? Are you living for those other people? Absolutely not. I think you should continue for yourself and think of it as a blessing that people are thinking great things about you to want more. Other people aren’t fortunate enough to get to that point. So take what you’ve achieved and keep going with it.
The desire to succeed must come from within. And everyone deserves to succeed and feel good. But the struggles to get to that point is untold because there’s no exact structured way to do it. There’s no manual on life. But if you give yourself the chance to accomplish a goal and SUCCEED, then I believe you’re accomplishing the goal of life itself… which is to make the best out of it, to feel, to be happy, to do what you’re passionate about, to succeed.
So if there’s something you want to attain or achieve but are having a difficult time getting to it, think about what’s blocking your way. Think about the obstacle in front of you and reasons why you’re not accomplishing it, and figure out a way to overcome it. Because you CAN and you WILL if you TRY YOUR BEST.
