Alabama: Ranked 3rd FATTEST state

So I read a little side article in a Muscle & Fitness magazine and found it quite amusing. If you live in the state of Alabama and are employed, you will get charged $25 a month for health insurance starting in 2011, IF your BMI (body mass index) is over 35 or if you don’t get tested! How crazy is that?! The article said that it’s to avoid taking over the #1 spot in the future. West Virginia is #2 and guess who is still #1?! You got it right if you said Mississippi! We seem to be great at being 1st place in this category!
But, I guess that’s one way for trying to get people motivated to lose weight. Twenty-five dollars a month adds up… that’s $300 a year, and in our current condition of the economy, every penny counts.
By the way, having a BMI of 30+ is considered obese. So fair warning to you Alabamians (totally just made that up), you have about a year and a half to lower your BMI or you’re getting TAXED because you’re FAT!
